We would like to recognize the 2022 FTC Scholarship recipients, Riley West and Raven Fairley!

Each student received a $3,000 scholarship from FTC to help them pursue their educational goals. FTC’s scholarship program seeks to identify students like Riley and Raven, who display a combination of academic excellence, participation in student activities, and community involvement.

Riley West is the son of Rickey and Selena West. He is a current student at Northeast Alabama Community College, graduating in 2021 from Fyffe High School. He is a biology transfer major and plans to go into the veterinarian profession.

During Riley’s time at NACC, he received the presidential host scholarship, which offers students the opportunity to serve as ambassadors for the school. Those duties, both on- and off-campus include campus luncheons, dinners, receptions, tours, high school college programs, involvement with local charitable organizations, and supporting other clubs and groups on campus during various activities and functions. As a requirement of the scholarship, Riley must complete over 50 hours of services and maintain a 3.0 GPA per semester.

Riley helps run his family farm near Fyffe and works at Mud Creek Veterinary Clinic in Hollywood. His family raises bucking bulls for Professional Bull Riding Inc. and Riley has traveled across the United States with the livestock, educating spectators about the sport. He has provided bull tours at the last two PBR World Finals.

Raven Fairley is the daughter of Marla and Dale Fairley. Raven is graduating from Fort Payne High School. She has attended Fyffe Church of God since she was 3 years old. She works in the children’s church now and is a member of the youth praise team and youth drama team, which won first place in last year’s state Teen Talent competition.  She is a member of the National Honors Society, Spanish Honors Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Phi Theta Kappa, SADD, FCA, FBLA, Book Club, and Student Council.  She is the Senior class Secretary and was Junior class Treasurer. She played basketball from 2nd through 11th grade and soccer from Kindergarten through Senior year. She also ran Cross Country her Senior Year where she ran at the State competition.

Among her honors include the DAR Good Citizenship award, Class Favorite, Best Christian Attitude, Outstanding Senior, Northeast Dual Enrollment award, and President’s Award for Educational Excellence. She plans to attend Northeast Alabama State Community College in the fall on a Presidential Host scholarship. In addition to receiving the FTC scholarship, Raven has also been awarded the Billy D.
